CJT Geriatric Advisory & Consultancy Services

Independent eldercare navigation and family advocacy, across the UK and Spain

I help families and organisations make sense of complex eldercare decisions — care home choices, cross-border coordination, and the conversations that follow a diagnosis of dementia, Parkinson's, or stroke. Non-clinical guidance, built on three decades of hands-on healthcare experience.

A note on scope: I provide non-clinical care navigation, administrative guidance, and family advocacy. I don't diagnose, treat, or provide regulated medical advice — where clinical input is needed, I help you find and work with the right registered professional. Full detail below.

years spent inside the systems families are now trying to understand for the first time.

I spent my career in geriatric care — first through the NHS and nursing homes in the UK, then, from 2006, running my own independent home care practice in the UK. I relocated that practice to Jávea in March 2017, and have supported British expat families within a 25km radius of Jávea ever since. Along the way I've sat in hundreds of care-home meetings, family conferences, and difficult conversations about what comes next.

What I offer today is that experience, redirected. I help families understand how the care system actually works, what their options are, and how to make decisions they can live with — without needing to become experts themselves. I don't provide clinical treatment or diagnosis; I provide the knowledge, the calm head, and the advocacy that usually only comes from having done this hundreds of times before.

My own move — from Jávea to Portishead, near Bristol, in late 2026 — is what prompted this cross-border version of the work: the same navigation and advocacy, now built for families managing care on both sides of the UK–Spain border.

Who I work with

Most of my work comes from three directions — each with a different question, and a different reason to call.

Private families

Adult children — often living abroad — trying to work out what care their parent actually needs, which providers to trust, and how to have the conversation with the parent themselves.

Care agencies & care homes

Providers who want a second, experienced eye on their family-facing process — how consultations are run, how changes are communicated, where families tend to get lost.

Senior-care organisations

Insurers and eldercare product teams who want someone who has actually sat across the table from families, reviewing workflows, materials, or support processes before they go live.

How I can help

Every engagement starts with a free, no-obligation conversation — paid support follows only if it makes sense for you. Fees are provided on request — just ask and I’ll send them to you directly.

For private families

Free Eldercare Discovery Call

A no-obligation 20-minute call by phone, WhatsApp, or video to talk through your parent's situation and find out where to start.

Eldercare Navigation Roadmap

A full non-clinical review of the situation, followed by a written, step-by-step action plan — local care options, English-speaking providers within 25km of Jávea or in the UK, and rough costs for each.

Cross-Border "Eyes & Ears" Family Liaison

Ongoing local representation within a 25km radius of Jávea — attending non-clinical meetings with care providers, and regular written updates for family based abroad.

Care Transition Support

Hands-on guidance during major changes — moving a parent into private care, or relocating them between the UK and Spain. Includes arranging and putting things in place on the family's behalf when they're unable to attend or organise it themselves.

For care agencies, care homes & organisations

Free B2B Partnership Assessment

A 30-minute discovery session with your team to see where independent family liaison could save staff time and reduce client drop-off.

Cross-Border Family Liaison Subcontracting

Acting as your dedicated independent liaison for international families — clear, professional communication, fewer misunderstandings, better client retention.

Per-Case Family Intake & Care Audits

Thorough initial family consultations and non-clinical care-plan reviews ahead of placement, so your team has a complete picture before care begins.

Ad-Hoc Advisory & Case Troubleshooting

On-demand support for complex cases, family escalations, or cross-border care transitions.

How it works

Most engagements with families follow the same three stages.

i.

Free discovery call

A no-obligation conversation about the situation as it stands — what's changed, what's worrying you, and what decisions are ahead.

ii.

Care roadmap

A clear, written set of options and next steps — care types, likely providers, rough costs, and what to ask each one.

iii.

Ongoing advocacy

Continued support as decisions are made and put into practice — meetings, liaison, and a steady point of contact.

Working across the UK and Spain

A practice built around one relocation, and the families now navigating care on both ends of it.

25km of Jávea

Currently based in Jávea, supporting British expat families with in-person visits, care-home advisory, and family liaison within a 25km round radius of Jávea. Further afield is available remotely.

Relocating to Portishead, near Bristol, in late 2026, with UK-based availability from 2027 — extending the same navigation and advocacy work to families and organisations in the South West.

"Families don't need someone to tell them what's medically wrong. They need someone who will give them the time and attention to sit down, listen, and put their needs first — someone who can advise what to ask and do next. That personal touch is what I offer."
